RALEIGH, N.C. (February 17, 2000)- The Carolina
Cobras, the new Raleigh-based Arena Football League
team set to kick off in April, has promoted vice
president of marketing and operations Brett Bender to
the role of general manager, managing partner Robert
“Roddy” Jones announced today.

Bender joined the Cobras in November after a
seven-year stint with the AFL Arizona Rattlers.
During his tenure in Phoenix, the Rattlers won two
World Championships, led the league in attendance and
won an unprecedented four consecutive AFL
Commissioner’s Awards for the best AFL club both on
and off the field.

“Brett is well trained and properly groomed in all
aspects of the Arena Football League,” Jones said.
“He has been a major part of the staff formation to
date.  The ownership and the staff welcome Brett to
his new position.”

Jones further expressed his appreciation to former
general manager Sims Hinds for his excellent
leadership in establishing a well-run organization.
Hinds will join Jones and work closely with him in his
other business ventures.

“Mr. Hinds is a team player and has accepted an offer
to join me with real estate development and
promotions,” Jones added.

“The Cobra team is staffed with professionals at all
positions and is ready to perform admirably in the
opening season,” Sims said.  “I am excited about the
development opportunities that Mr. Jones has in mind
and I see it as a personal challenge and an
opportunity to expand my horizons.”
