- There's no doubt that the loss of Marrio Grier for the season is going
to hurt. But that's not a reason to give up on a running game that
has produced the most yards in the AFL this year.
In fact, with
new starter Bo Kelly the Cobras shouldn't miss a beat. Kelly has been highly
regarded throughout his four years of AFL experience. He is the Arizona
Rattlers' all-time leading rusher with 437 yards on 162 carries and 27
touchdowns. He had 15 touchdowns in 1996, tied for fifth all-time for touchdowns
in a season. Kelly is a hard nosed, tough runner that can pound out yardage
and keep the running game alive, and he also possesses a great ability
for catching the ball out of the backfield, something that can pay off
greatly when your quarterbacks are struggling.
So don't expect
Carolina to lay off the run anytime soon -- this area should continue to
be one of their strongest points. |
