Cobras
Career
2000
Fred McNair joined the Cobras
on May 30 after Carolina traded OS Jack Jackson and QB Jim Arellanes to
Florida for McNair and lineman Dary Myricks. In his first game
with the Cobras, he threw for 234 yards and four touchdowns at Orlando,
but also tossed an interception that ended the threat of a Carolina upset.
Then, in his ESA debut, he threw for only 190 yards before being pulled
for Carlos Garay, as the Mustangs blew out the Cobras 63-16. But
McNair soon improved, throwing for six touchdowns and only six incomplete
passes in an overtime loss to New England, then tossing for three scores
and rushing for another in Nashville. His first win as a Cobra came
vs. Houston, and in his final three games, he threw for 20 touchdowns,
including eight in the final home loss to Tampa Bay.
